This store will help fund the Senior Center. We will be needing lots of wonderful stuff to sell and people to repair, display and sell the wonderful stuff. If you have some wonderful stuff to donate, call and we will pick it up. We are looking for just about everything. If you have a flare for display and selling, call and we will sign you up.

We have scrip, or gift certificates from several retail businesses available for sale at the Center. The Center makes from 1 ½ percent to 16 percent on the sales. Be sure to support your Center by buying scrip from us.

Just in case you haven’t heard ~ Whoos on 1st, the antiques, collectibles and “whoo knows what” shop at 801 E. 1st Street (across from the Chalet Motel) has been growing by leaps and bounds since it’s opening on August 7th. It was opened as a vehicle to bring in money to help UKC Senior Center pay the rising costs of the many programs we offer to our community.

For the three weeks in August that the store was open, a check for $1,598 was presented to the Center. A check for $2,500 was presented at the first of October, representing profit for September. It is anticipated that at least that amount will be presented for October sales. All donations of quality merchandise are sincerely appreciated ~ keep them coming!

A beautiful solid oak table with six chairs was donated by Bea Cates’ daughter and has already been sold. Also, a Duncan Fife table donated by Josie Kalmbach sold for nice price to a very happy customer! We now have a stereo hi-fi console that plays 78, 33-1/3, and 45 records. It works beautifully ~ come in and take a look. You are bound to find something you can’t live without!

All items for sale in the store are donated, volunteers do all of the work at the store, and all profits benefit the Senior Center. If you would like to become part of the team, please call Marilyn Moon (Volunteer Coordinator) at 674-5307. You may volunteer for a regular shift of two hours, four hours or, ???? Marilyn will be glad to give you all of the options!

Reminder: To donate items, please contact Terri McFadden, store manager, at 674-2249. Please do not drop items off at the store, as there is no room for staging of the donations before displaying them in the store.

We wish Olga Staheti a speedy recovery from her auto accident. We are anxious to have your smiling face back at the store, Olga – we miss you!

Please join us in thanking the following volunteers for making the operation of the store possible:
Josie Kalmbach Barbara Howe
Delores Johnson Jo Anne Briggs
Marilyn Moon
